Lisa’s Healthy Recipes

  • Dr. Mark Hyman recommends that you always add protein to a liquid meal. We all need more healthy protein. Chia Seeds and almonds provide that. You could also add flax seeds, bee pollen, etc.

    Ingredients:

1 single serving container of Coconut water

Braeburn Apple cut up with skin (organic)

2 Kale leaves (I used the dark green variety)

    A handful of raw almonds

    1 Tablespoon of Chia Seeds

    Juice of half a lemon

    Fresh mint

    Variations:

Substitute - or include a pear for added sweetness

Add or substitute a raw beet for the kale = this gives you a red Root Chakra Tonic

Add or substitute carrots for an Orange Chakra Tonic - Sacral Chakra Tonic

  • This is one of my all time favorite detox juicer recipes and I drink it almost every day. It tastes great and makes me feel awesome!

    Ingredients:

    1 head romaine lettuce

    green detox lemonade

5 to 6 stalks of kale

2 sweet apples (I usually use Fuji or Pink Lady apples)

1 whole lemon (organic is best so you don’t have to peel it)

1 to 2 tablespoons fresh ginger root (optional – but I love this – add to your own taste)

Process the vegetables and fruit through your juicer. This recipe will give quite a bit of juice – depending on the size of your fruits and vegetables you can probably get 2 large glasses of juice. You can share with a friend or put the second glass in your fridge and drink it throughout the day.

  • This recipe comes from Yogi Bhajan, who introduced Kundalini to the west in the late 1960's. Yogi Bhajan is also the inspiration of the "Yogi Tea" brand, which is easy to find in health food stores. It's very simple to make this tea at home and it fills your house with its wonderful aroma.

    Prep Time: 5 minutes

    Cook Time: 3 hours

    Ingredients:

    2 quarts water

    15 whole cloves

    20 black peppercorns

    3 sticks of cinnamon

20 whole cardmon pods (split the pods first)

8 fresh ginger slices (1/4" thick, no need to peel)

1/2 teaspoon regular or decaf black tea leaves (approximately 1-2 tea bag)

Dairy or soy milk and honey or maple syrup to taste

Bring two quarts of water to a boil. Add cloves and boil one minute. Add cardamom, peppercorns, cinnamon, and ginger. Cover and boil for 30 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer for two to three hours. Remove from heat, add black tea, and let cool. Strain and store in the refrigerator. Reheat when you want a cup and add milk and honey to taste.
