Beth Jerva
I stumbled upon yoga eighteen years ago in the small ski town of Crested Butte, Colorado. I fell in love with the postures, the movement, the way my body felt when I was finished, and the quietness it brought to my mind. I am a distance runner and had used my body in a different way for years. In yoga, I found the challenge of slowing down and being present. It has been a journey of exploration and discovery ever since. It has always reconnected me with my soul.
Today I am a yoga instructor, a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, and Social Worker. I am blessed to offer my services to the community within Heaven Meets Earth. I feel that light, love, healing, and a quest for growth all pulse within these walls that Lisa created. As I am guided to this work, on my journey, I yearn to share it with people who are seeking and searching within their own journeys and in need of healing on any level, as we all are. As a yoga teacher, I teach the postures that not only strengthen the body, but connect our hearts and souls. Yoga is physical, mental, and spiritual and I try to incorporate all aspects into a class. It allows for healing the body and soul while it opens and expands our awareness to a bigger context than ourselves. I hope to impart this in my work as a teacher. I completed my BA from University of Colorado, my Masters in Social Work at Loyola University, my yoga teaching certification from NU Yoga in Chicago, and my Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Certification from Phoenix Rising. I have worked with families and adolescents as a wilderness therapist in Oregon and as a crisis intervention therapist at Haven Youth and Family Services. I currently work at Yellowbrick Program in Evanston as a yoga therapist working with emerging adults. Yoga Therapy is a part of their Eating Disorder, Trauma, and Mental health programs. About Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is best described by founder Michael Lee as a bridge from body to soul. Working one on one in a private environment, I guide the client through a process of exploration. Through the combination of supported yoga postures with dialogue, the client begins a journey of conscious integration of body, mind, and spirit. The postures I choose are to benefit the client in their particular process. The session is about being present with yourself and being empowered with your own awareness and wisdom.
